President’s Message

It is with deep gratitude and commitment that I assume the role of President of the Jaffna Medical Association in this promising year. The strength of our Association lies in its unity, shared vision, and unwavering dedication to improving healthcare for our community.

This year, our guiding theme is “Achieving Healthcare Excellence through Learning, Sharing, and Caring”. Healthcare excellence extends beyond clinical treatment; it includes preventive care, public health education, professional development, and region-specific innovation. Guided by this holistic approach, we have developed a comprehensive strategic roadmap focusing on seven key areas: research and innovation, health education, clinical training, rural outreach, road safety and emergency response, climate and health, and the integration of technology.

Through initiatives such as medical camps in underserved areas, public education via media platforms, support for region-specific research, and training healthcare professionals in emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, the JMA remains committed to making healthcare more accessible, sustainable, and proactive.

We are mindful of the economic challenges facing our healthcare system and are therefore adopting cost-effective strategies to maximize impact without compromising quality. Targeted fundraising, strategic partnerships, and innovative use of resources form the foundation of our approach. From school-based adolescent health programs and GP forums to sustainability efforts through our Green Project, each initiative reflects our belief that meaningful health improvements are achieved through collaboration and shared responsibility.

Realizing our vision requires drawing upon the wisdom and experience of our senior consultants while embracing the energy, innovation, and fresh perspectives of the younger generation. This mission calls upon every member of the healthcare community, regardless of specialty or role. Every contribution matters, and every idea has value. Together, we can build a stronger Jaffna Medical Association and a healthier future for the communities we serve.

Let us unite in purpose, remain true to our values, and work collectively to build a healthier, stronger society.

Thank you.
